Originally from China, I was raised in an untraditional Chinese household which my parents’ gender roles are reversed. My mother is the breadwinner in my family and my father was constantly criticized by being a house dad. By seeing the struggles my father encountered, I understand how diversity and inclusion are important but hard to get right. Now, as a female filmmaker of color, I hope to speak out for myself and other minority group. I aim to craft narratives of equality for immigrants, and show that despite our differences, we are not much different from each other.
